Job Description Summary

The Senior IT Platform Specialist / Team Leader consults with internal clients about the technology environment with medium to high complexity. They translate business requirements into technology terms and develop more complex algorithms and programming code for software solutions.

They will be responsible for day to day K2 development strategy and support of the K2 development environment. They will work with other members to deliver and support stable and qualitative K2 solutions. This function will report directly to the Online Systems Manager.


A primary focus of this role will center on building and maintaining K2-based solutions making use of K2 blackpearl, K2 smartforms and K2 connect technologies integrating into technologies such as Microsoft SharePoint Server, Microsoft SQL Server and others.


The Senior IT Platform Specialist / Team Leader also provides 2nd level support on solutions and the platform where required.

They will be expected to engage with business stakeholders to conduct needs assessments while architecture and designing solutions on the K2 platform and ensuring full compliance with the company’s governance, development and branding standards.  The resulting solutions will be implemented following standard project management methodology including defining tasks and milestones, estimating resources, and status reporting.  They will be responsible for providing technical direction and guidance to internal clients and team members.  This role understands interoperability issues and the strengths and weaknesses of the K2 platform and is able to provide a trusted voice at the decision-making table.


They will have a key focus on managing and leading a K2 team. They need to communicate company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team. They need to motivate team members and assesses performance. They provide help to management, including hiring and training, and keeps management updated on team performance. Communicates concerns and policies among management and team members.



Job Description

  • Developing K2-based solutions using K2 smartforms and K2 blackpearl with attention to user interface design.
  • Develop, test and implement solutions in a K2 environment.
  • Work from high level requirements through detailed specifications, prototype, software deployment and administration.
  • Create and maintain related technical documentation.
  • Designing integration into various technologies from the K2 platform where required using .NET technologies (C#, web services and WCF/REST services) or out of the box K2 integration components.
  • Develop training materials and provide training to users with varying levels of skill.
  • Collaborating with application developers to architect integration of K2 into application design.
  • Development of best-practise workflows/forms/templates which will allow reuse.
  • Development of standards and procedures for development on the K2 platform.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and optimizing performance of workflows, forms and integration functions.
  • Supports team manager and performs management duties when manager is absent or out of office
  • Provides encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks
  • Assists management with hiring processes and new team member training
  • Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance
  • Communicates deadlines and goals to team members
  • Develops strategies to promote team member adherence to company regulations and performance goals
  • Conducts team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations
  • Generates and shares comprehensive and detailed reports about team performance, mission-related objectives, and deadlines



Additional Job Description

  • Proven experience with K2 blackpearl and K2 smartforms development essential.
  • Extensive support experience with IIS and .NET application architecture.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in small, cohesive, cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
