IT Manager/Development Manager

Reporting to: Head of IT

Location: Cape Town CBD

Requirements


  • 3-year relevant IT or NQF aligned qualification
  • 8 years relevant experience across multiple areas of IT
  • Microsoft development environment
  • Experience as a development team manager
  • Track record of delivery
  • Track record of managing relationships
  • Microsoft development technology thought leadership and ability to evaluate and set technology strategy in a digital ecosystem
  • Understanding of cloud hosting technologies including relevant information security, quality and compliance required for software development
  • Ability to lead and manage technical teams including working with service providers and joint ventures on emerging technologies
  • Ability to plan and prioritise and collaborate with other teams and vendors
  • Solutions focused and systemic thinker with software engineering competence

Job Specification


  • Lead a team of developers, analysts and specialists to build and run bespoke software services/API’s and applications
  • Set, socialise and lead the technical strategy for bespoke development in line with enterprise architecture, business and IT strategy including the appropriate exploitation of emerging digital technologies such as API’s, micro services, containers and serverless software design patterns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to deliver to the project portfolio.
  • Effectively manage demand and delivery to multiple business units and projects providing cost effective development capacity and delivery.
  • Lead, coach and mentor a diverse team to effectively deliver the ITS digital transformation strategy. Facilitate the continual growth and advancement of a high performance, digitally skilled and retail relevant development team.
  • Set and deliver financial budget to area of accountability.
  • Develop and deliver one-year operating plan.
  • Manage vendor relationships and sourcing strategy in line with IT commercial governance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to deliver to operational service level agreements and effectively manage level 3 operational support.
