Creative Spark has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Art Director to join our Johannesburg team.

Job Description

The Digital Art Director will work alongside a copywriter to develop and execute original, award-winning creative concepts and content for integrated campaigns across various clients and categories.

The ideal candidate is agile and able to adapt quickly to each individual brand’s visual identity, with strong design skills and a compelling viewpoint. You will be expected to interpret integrated communications and channel strategies to conceptualise clear, simple marketing creative, driven by real human insight. Strong collaboration and people skills are an absolute must.


  • 3+ years agency experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree or other relevant qualification
  • Extensive knowledge of typography, layout, colour theory and design fundamentals (scale, proportion, rhythm, balance, etc.)
  • Experience conceptualising and implementing integrated 360° campaigns in collaboration with through-the-line partner agencies
  • Experience with digital design across all mediums
  • Mastery of Photoshop, Sketch, InDesign, Illustrator and After Effects
  • Self-starter, able to work autonomously—often with tight deadlines
  • Organised, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects across departments, teams and clients
  • Time management skills, and sense of accountability to the team and client is very important
  • Experience managing film and photographic shoots, as well as audio recordings (pre-, during- and post-production)
  • Good presentation skills—be able to present both internally and externally
  • Comprehensive knowledge of media requirements and terminology
  • Solid understanding of vendor requirements and capabilities
  • Online portfolio with relevant work examples
  • Three referrals from previous employers

Additional Skills

  • Animation and HTML experience will be beneficial
