Field Sales Rep

at Recruit Digital in Brackenfell

Sales Position

My client is a Motor control and automation specialist, within the electrical industry, looking for people to join their sales team.

Job Description - To sell products and close deals effectively, Identify new prospective clients, pass knowledge to current and prospective clients, to maintain a very high standard when dealing with all clients, provide feedback to directors in the form of reports on a weekly basis, Market the brand name to the industry to assure brand awareness. Provide superior service before, during and after sales; build genuine relationships with prospective clients and current clients, to ensure long term returns on investment.

Required skill set of potential candidate:


  • Written and Verbal Communication Skills. (English and Afrikaans a prerequisite)
  • Basic Math and Numerical Skills.
  • Product Knowledge of Variable Speed Drives and PLC's a prerequisite.
  • Sales Experience in the Motor Control, Automation and Electrical Industry. (Agricultural and Marine Industries would also serve to be beneficial)
  • Own Customer database essential.
  • Must be able to convince customers to change brands.
  • Must be able to work to monthly sales targets.
  • Courteous and respectful to clients and coworkers.
  • Basic Computer Literacy with Microsoft Office.
  • Compiling and Updating of Databases.
  • Reporting and Presentation Skills.
  • Basic understanding of Business and Financial Accounting.
  • Creativity, Out of the box thinker.
  • Persistent.
  • Flexible.
  • Determination.
  • Must be able to handle rejection.
  • Self Disciplined.
  • Presentable, Clean and of sober habits at all times.
  • Required to have a valid South African Drivers License.
  • Potential to grow within an ever expanding company.

Duties:


  • Finds interactive and innovative ways to sell products at all costs.
  • Sales targets to be met monthly.
  • Engages in superior customer service.
  • Persists in sales even in the face of failure.
  • Schedules appointments and meetings as necessary.
  • Answers questions from clients (can pass onto more senior technical staff and engineers)
  • Researches client base to find new types of customers and sells to them accordingly.
  • Creates a plan for gaining customers and then retaining them.
  • Makes sure that all sales are recorded (either to internal sales or directly on accounting system) (Combination of all sales staff internal and external)
  • Sets up stands at trade shows and demonstrates the quality or uses of a product to all prospective clients at exhibitions. (Help will be provided by all The Client's staff)
  • Demonstrates superior time management skills.
  • Provides thorough weekly meeting reports on new, existing clients met to management at The Client's premises.
  • Must be able to provide quotations for existing clients and prospective clients.
  • Communicates directly to management at The Client for any marketing, brand awareness requirements (material, web, digital, advertising etc)
  • Make deliveries to clients if necessary.
  • May be required to work outside of normal trading hours based on the needs of clients and specific projects.
  • Will be required from time to time to perform tasks out of these duties mentioned above.

Compensation and Benefits for above position:


  • Basic Salary negotiable based on previous sales experience in the industry.
  • Sales targets will be set and Incentives given as per management's discretion on monthly sales performance.
  • Company Vehicle (Nissan NP200 bakkie) to be used for all sales meetings during normal trading hours, vehicle will be returned to office every evening, and collected in the morning. (Discussion can be had about whether or not vehicle can be taken home if early morning meetings a long distance away etc) No personal taxation on company vehicle.
  • The Client to cover all vehicle costs e.g. Fuel, tyres maintenance (Petrol Card) - A log book will be required to be kept.
  • Medical Aid (partially covered by The Client)
  • Internal and External Training will be provided in order to continually improve skill set.

Basic Condition of Employment


  • If employed by The Client, there will be as per company policy a 6 month probation period, during this time all necessary training and product knowledge will be given. Where after a performance review will be chaired by the management of The Client and the decision to provide a permanent contract will be discussed.
