Community Manager/Content creator

Reports to: Head of Social and Digital Content

Role purpose:

My client is looking for a Community Manager to join their growing marketing team, someone with a passion for sports and a flair for the creative. Think Paul Pogba, without all the dabbing.

The Community Manager will be responsible for executing the brand’s social strategy and aligning it with the overall brand strategy (It’s a lot more interesting than it sounds). This will include creating and managing content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channels.

This job centres not just on increasing brand recognition and engagement through our various channels, with an emphasis on original content, but reporting on how our content impacts business results. We’re on the lookout for a social media maven with a knack for storytelling, a passion for digital media and the ability to get sh*t done.

Reporting to the Head of Social + Digital Content, the successful candidate will know their sport and will work alongside a variety of stakeholders – both internal and external – to take our content marketing proposition to the next level. The right candidate will be a natural raconteur who’s comfortable creating content across various digital mediums and for various sporting codes.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Working in collaboration with the design/content team, you will be responsible for generating ideas and executing great daily and campaign led content for all our customer touch points.
  • Owning and continually evolving the social media strategy, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and engagement of the various social platforms.
  • Manage the social media channels & be hands-on with content posting, working from the marketing content calendar and gathering monthly social media measurement insights.
  • Measure performance versus competitors, define targets and look to implement plans to grow the brand content presence.
  • Collaborate with our Social Advertising Partners to ensure the posting strategy & targeting is efficiently working alongside our planned activity.
  • Additionally, you will contribute ideas and content to the wider Brand Engagement team (including Editorial and ATL advertising)
  • Continually evolve and improve content, especially in video, delivering fast, reactive, insightful and engaging material that benchmarks with the best across industries.

Know your bandy from your badminton: The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine passion for the full spectrum of events, this means that you are expected to have an extensive knowledge of sport, but you should also be able to demonstrate that you are up-to-date with a broad range of topics including news, politics and current affairs.

Effective and efficient work style: Able to juggle multiple priorities, delivering on time and budget and keeping pace with the demands and speed of the organisation.

Up for a bit of banter: Attitude should reflect the core values of the brand, balancing work and play with a love of sport.

Relevant tertiary Degree required.

Based in Cape Town Metro.

R11k-R15k per month.
