Project Manager

at VSpace in Johannesburg

VSpace is looking for a Project Manager to help manage an increasing number of software (web, iOS and Android) projects. VSpace has executed 40 projects since it’s inception 2 years ago. More projects are on their way and through hard work, tenacity and intelligence you will be expected to:

  • Gather requirements from clients, document them in the form of block diagrams, spreadsheets and specifications.
  • Understand what technologies should ideally be used to implement the solution, converse with the client and see what would work best for them.
  • Ensure that the development teams understand the requirements and estimate the value and duration of projects logically. Query the team to ensure that any concerns from their side are addressed, with or without the involvement of the client, depending on what is required.
  • Implement the agile methodology and break down the project into sprints (including hours, duration and cost) and then track the progress of execution by liaising with foreign teams. Plan each sprint and track the velocity.
  • Be proactive while executing day to day work and propose improvements to our existing systems and processes.
  • Follow and enforce the VSpace process. This is what makes us unique :)
  • Meet clients to report progress and demo work accomplished at the end of sprints and the end of projects.
  • You will be able to work from home unless meetings or work sessions are scheduled for VSpace or project related matters.

Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have a Computer Science or Engineering qualification (either degree or diploma). However, people have their individual journeys in their careers and may have a knack for what we require. Please read through the expectations above and make sure you are comfortable with it. We prefer to hire people who have a thirst for knowledge and find it easy to learn new things. That’s part of our DNA.

Work Experience:

  • Taking initiative – Identifying a problem proactively and attempting to solve it even if you didn’t succeed.
  • Leadership skills – Other people acknowledging your leadership skills. Please provide a reference.
