Business Analyst

The Business Analyst position is critical to our ambitious growth plans and you will play an important role in defining and improving our value proposition to clients.

We run five award-winning online publishing brands, including the well-known, that are locally and internationally reputable. Our agency services clients across a wide variety of industries, both locally and internationally, including Philips, Kimberly-Clark, EOH, Gautrain and Medscheme. The ideal candidate would be someone who is analytical and strategic, and wants to be part of an exciting growth story and wants to make an impact. Ideally the candidate should have an existing network in the agency/digital industry.

Job Description

You will report to the CEO, and own the new business function of the agency. The responsibilities of this role will extend to include:

  • Analysing all new business proposals, tenders, RFPs, RFIs and the associated business from which they are issued to ensure the marketing challenge or need is solved per the solution offered at pitch, in quote and proposal
  • Meeting prospective clients at C-Suite level and presenting agency credentials, values and ethos;
  • Translating prospective client requirements, writing proposals, creating cost-estimates, managing new client expectations and leading pitches;
  • Identify pitch opportunities and ensuring the company is represented by key staff with a world-class presentation;
  • Prepare and submit pitches, proposals and tenders:
  • Together with the company’s management team, lead and prepare the company for pitches that win business, woo prospective clients and blow the socks off our competitors;
  • Identify and co-ordinate key agency stakeholders required to contribute to and/or attend pitches
  • Create proposals, presentations, RFPs, RFIS, tenders and quotes for prospective clients, including QA, packaging and submission
  • Research the prospective client’s industry, and digital innovation trends, platforms and channels that best apply, to compile a strategic framework for the proposal submission, and to guide other agency resources.
  • Own and proactively manage the client relationship, ensuring there is adequate communication and timeous responses;
  • A key member of the EXCO who will contribute to building out the company’s strategic vision;
  • Prepare regular new business status reports mapped against targets and KPIs;
  • Manage the agency’s CRM system and all in-bound business queries;
  • Manage the agency’s outbound marketing plan from the agreed strategy, ensuring all agency marketing assets (website, social media etc) are optimised for lead generation ROI;
  • Manage and agency’s brand and CI, and customise as required to ensure the Agency’s credentials, profile and all collateral is relevant and world class not only for the proposal at hand, but per industry trends.
  • Ensure satisfactory hand over of successful opportunities to the relevant agency production teams, and support these teams in terms of understanding the scope of work and required deliverables and timelines.
  • Represent the Agency at industry events.


  • Strong people management, sales and networking skills
  • Strong, confident communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate a good understanding (i.e. have an overview and be comfortable with the terms) of technical aspects of digital platforms and digital marketing strategy (a good understanding of internet platforms, digital strategy, the CMS landscape, and various development languages such as PHP, HTML, design integration etc.).
  • Ability to interpret a business problem or requirement and translate this into a digital strategy as a solution;
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of, and remain up to speed with, industry technical advances and trends.
  • Be able to confidently carry a client pitch at C-Suite level, and present digital ideas and solutions
  • Be able to think critically and strategically


  • A university degree in the relevant field
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the digital solutions industry (in agency or at a web/mobile development company)
  • Have an amazing network
  • Be positive, proactive, savvy, and resourceful

  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Be able to multitask and manage and prioritise multiple opportunities concurrently

  • Genuine interest and passion for technology and digital marketing
  • Be a team player
  • Be able to travel regularly for pitches and meetings, mainly between JHB and Cape Town
