New Business Manager

at Creative Spark (Anywhere)

Now part of the M&C Saatchi Worldwide Group with offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg, the New Business Manager position is part of our ambitious growth plans and an important element in improving our value proposition to clients.

We run five award-winning online brands, including the well-known, that are locally and internationally reputable, and our agency services clients like Philips, Kimberly- Clark, EOH and Medscheme. We’re a fast-paced business that employs ambitious and committed people who want to go places, grow with the company and blow our clients away with digital savvy and solutions.

The ideal candidate would be someone who would want to be part of a growth story and wants to make an impact. It would be someone interested in challenges and a problem-solver, not afraid of multi-tasking or learning new skills. Ideally the candidate should have an existing network in the agency/digital industry.

Job Description

Reporting to the CEO and owning the new business function of the agency the role will extend to include:

  • Meeting prospective clients at C-Suite level and presenting company credentials, values and ethos;
  • Sourcing new business, translating client requirements, writing proposals, creating cost-estimates, managing new client expectations and leading pitches;
  • Identifying pitches and ensuring the company is represented by key staff with a world-class presentation;
  • Together with identified required key stakeholders, create proposals, RFP / RFIs any quotes for prospective clients including the QA of all proposals, ensuring there is adequate communication and timeous responses;
  • Together with the company’s management team, lead and prepare the company for pitches that win business, woo prospective clients and blow the socks off our competitors;
  • A key member of the EXCO that is building out the company’s strategic vision
  • Manage the CRM system and all in-bound business queries;
  • Manage the agencies outbound marketing plan from the agreed strategy, ensuring all agency marketing assets (website, social media etc) are optimised for lead generation ROI;
  • Customise as required to ensure the Agencies credentials, profile and all collateral is relevant and world class not only for the proposal at hand, but per industry trends.
  • Represent the Agency at industry events.


  • People management, sales and networking skills
  • Demonstrate a fair understanding (i.e. have an overview and be comfortable with the terms) of technical aspects of digital production and digital marketing strategy (a good understanding of internet platforms, digital strategy, the CMS landscape, and various development languages such as PHP, HTML, design integration etc.).
  • Ability to interpret a business problem or requirement and translate this into a digital strategy as a solution;
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of industry technical advances and trends.


  • A university degree in the relevant field
  • At least 10 years experience in the digital solutions industry (in agency or at a web/mobile development company)
  • Have an amazing network
